Delete your account
You can delete your UrbanLuxx account at any time. This page explains how to do it from within the app, how to request deletion if you no longer have the app installed, what data we remove, and what data we keep.
Option 1 — From inside the app (recommended)
- Open the UrbanLuxx app on your device.
- Sign in if you are signed out, then go to the Profile tab.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the profile screen and tap Delete Account.
- Read the warning carefully. If you have an active subscription, the warning explains exactly what we can and cannot cancel server-side.
- Confirm twice. The second confirmation is intentional — there is no undo.
Once confirmed, deletion is processed immediately. You will be signed out and redirected to the welcome screen.
Option 2 — Without the app installed
If you uninstalled the app and cannot sign in, email privacy@urbanluxx.com from the email address that was on your account with the subject line:
Subject: Account deletion request
Include in the body:
- The email address of your account (must match the sender).
- A short statement confirming you wish to permanently delete the account.
- If you remember it, the rough date you created the account (helps us locate the right record quickly).
We will verify the request, process the deletion within five business days, and email you a confirmation when the deletion is complete. We may ask one follow-up question to confirm identity if anything looks unusual.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted (via either option), we permanently remove the following from our active production database:
- Your user record (email, name, password hash, avatar URL).
- Your favorites list.
- Your workout completion history and progress stats.
- Your Stripe checkout session records associated with your account.
- Your subscription receipt records (the local entries we use to track entitlement; the original receipts at Apple / Google are not ours to delete).
What happens to your subscription
Subscription handling depends on where you originally subscribed:
- Web (Stripe) subscriptions are cancelled immediately on our side as part of the deletion. No future charges will be made.
- App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) subscriptions are not cancelled by deleting your UrbanLuxx account. Apple and Google manage these subscriptions directly and do not give us permission to cancel on your behalf. You must cancel App Store / Play Store subscriptions yourself before or after deleting your UrbanLuxx account. See the cancellation steps in our Subscription Terms.
If you delete your UrbanLuxx account while a native subscription is still active and you forget to cancel it in your store account, you will continue to be billed by Apple or Google until you cancel — even though you no longer have access to the UrbanLuxx app. Always cancel native subscriptions first.
What we keep, and for how long
For legal, security, and fraud-prevention reasons, we retain a small amount of information after account deletion:
- Deletion audit record — we store a one-way SHA-256 hash of your email plus the deletion timestamp and a flag indicating whether you had an active Stripe subscription at deletion time. This record does not contain your name, plain email, or any other personally identifiable information, and it cannot be reversed back to your original email. We keep this audit record indefinitely for fraud prevention.
- Payment records — we may retain transaction history (amount, currency, date, anonymized customer reference) for up to 10 years to comply with applicable tax and financial-record-keeping laws.
- Server logs — request logs that include your account ID may persist for up to 30 days before being aged out.
- Backups — encrypted database backups may retain a snapshot of your pre-deletion data for up to 90 days before being overwritten. We do not restore from backups except in a disaster recovery scenario.
Account recovery after deletion
Account deletion is permanent. We do not offer recovery of a deleted account, its workout history, or its preferences. You can create a fresh account with the same email after deletion if you wish.
If you only want to take a break
If you do not want to fully delete your account but want to stop paying:
- Cancel your subscription via your App Store / Play Store account, or via the Stripe Customer Portal accessible from Profile → Manage Billing. You drop back to the Free tier and keep your account, history, and favorites in case you return.
- Sign out from Profile → Sign Out if you simply want to stop using the app on a device. Your data stays intact on the server.
